About Sheri

Sheri Bilderback is a public policy / government affiars and communications strategic consultant who has built a successful 30+ year career advocating for transformative public policy / communications issues on the local, state and federal level.

Sheri is the CEO and Founder of Sheri Bilderback Consulting & Coaching, LLC / SBCC, LLC, a public policy and communications consulting and coaching firm established in 2012, where she brings her strategic mindset, communications background, legislative / government affairs experience, regulatory understanding and can-do attitude to benefit her business, association and organizational clients.

Sheri maintains a proven track record as a respected member of senior management teams, advising on and developing legislative / government affairs / public policy, organizational and communications strategies – often as the only woman at the table. She led and built from the ground up the government affairs / public relations effort for a $4+ billion public-private partnership providing electric power to eight states. She was recently engaged on communications with a coalition exploring the potential for a St. Louis Lambert Airport public-private investment partnership, through the Federal Aviation Administration’s program, whose global effort resulted in over a dozen formal and significant responses by internationally acclaimed industry leaders.

She has represented and lobbied / advocated for intense issues and challenging industries, including development, coal / power, telecommunications, infrastructure, education reform, tax reform, health care and economic development. And while issue knowledge matters, an effective strategist such as Sheri can quickly deconstruct the key points of concern, creatively problem solve and identify threats and opportunities to / for your business or organization regardless of the issue area.

In concert with Sheri’s public policy / government affairs and advocacy work is her extensive experience as a communications strategist. Sheri partners with technical experts and distills complex jargon into digestible messaging that public officials and the general public can easily understand. She brings her experience with content / marketing both across digital platforms and traditional communications methods.

As a passion-driven advocate, Sheri excels at coalition building. She brings diverse interests together, helping stakeholders understand the need for change, alleviating fears and concerns, while educating on the issues and ultimately finding agreement and win-win solutions to public policy and industry challenges.

In addition to consulting, Sheri has served as a government affairs / public affairs department head and lobbyist for several organizations, a digital content / marketing strategist, a contract lobbyist on the ground in the Missouri Capitol Building representing multiple clients, a U.S. Presidential campaign field director, a U.S. Senate campaign director of operations and scheduler, other non-partisan candidate and ballot issue campaigns and more. She has volunteered on many civic boards and commissions, including the City of Brentwood (MO) Planning and Zoning Commission for the past 28 years.

Sheri earned her MBA from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics and Government from The American University in Washington, D.C, where she also served as a U.S. Senate Intern for U.S. Senator Christopher "Kit" Bond (MO).

Sheri’s diverse interests and intuitive and empathic nature, which has benefitted her work as an advocate and lobbyist over the years, also led her to become a Certified Life Coach. Sheri combines her extensive experience and training to provide professional coaching and support specific to her business and public policy clients. She also offers transformative coaching in the areas of personal and spiritual growth and even self-defense and firearms, holding many certifications in each, and is a gifted writer and public speaker. Sheri also teaches Continuing Education classes for St. Louis Community College. This well-rounded experience positions Sheri with a unique perspective and ability to thrive in the high-stakes and sometimes high-pressure realm of public policy and government affairs work.

St. Louis County, Missouri is where Sheri calls home in a 1929 one-and-a-half-story brick bungalow along with her two white, fluffy Persian cats who are full of personality – just like Sheri! Sheri is a little bit city and a little bit country, equally at home in heels or boots. When she’s not kicking it into high-gear on behalf of her consulting clients, Sheri enjoys visiting her family’s Missouri Century Farm, which has been in her family since 1902 (the farm is gorgeous as you can see).

She also loves international and domestic travel and is often dreaming of her next adventure (see little Sheri to the right – she’s always been adventurous, looking for the next new experience). Some of her favorite things are a medium rare ribeye, a gorgeous sunset and of course coffee!

For balance, you might find Sheri practicing yoga or defensive shooting, playing piano or road tripping to a rock concert (and yes, even meeting the band and ending up in the front row where Gene Simmons gave her a guitar pick!).

Sheri loves volunteering - especially empowering women as the CEO / Leader Instructor for SBCC Women Shooters - Self-Defense, Building Confidence and Coaching Women Shooters! She even appeared on the historical three-fold cover of TIME Magazine x a JR Project.

Sheri has a life-long passion for horses, especially thoroughbreds. She even met and sat on Secretariat during a private tour with his personal groom!! Check out Sheri back in the saddle! She loves riding Hunt Seat – that means jumping horses! Her dream is to adopt an off the track thoroughbred. (She’s also had an extensive Breyer Horse collection since she was a little girl.)
